Ponderings...Books, a look into my imagination

I seem to have an opinion about everything. I have been doing a lot of reading lately of books in the metaphysical category. Ok I know that first sentence really has nothing to do with the next but I just wanted to start somewhere and that was the first thing that was in my head. The fact of the matter is that I love to read and I love to write. I am so drawn to the bookstore. I just can't help wondering if I am trying to unconsciously guide myself to becoming an author. When I walk through the book store I am just so amazed at all the books that have been written. I love books because you can use them to increase your knowledge. Some books are written to teach you things. Books are also written for the pure pleasure of reading entertaining stories. The stories written can take you to other times and places. They can transport you to worlds with limitless possibilities. There are no limits but those of the authors imagination. In the world of imagination anything is possible. I was sitting in the bookstore aisle reading a book having to do with the metaphysical stuff and I happened to hear some guy talking to someone about how with books that are made into movies usually the book was better or so he thought up until the Jarassic Park movie in 1994 and how real and life like and close to the book it was. I actually didn't read the book but I do remember the movie. Most of the time books are better because more is possible when writing because it makes the reader use their imagination and things that are not possible or at least don't seem to be possible in real life and sometimes hard to create in the movies can be written and described. I have had lots of experiences where the book is better than the movie. I can name a few of them where I liked the book better and those include; Where the heart is, the one with Glenn Close and Ann Hathaway and Im totally blocking on the name right now...after locating the book, The devil wears prada, that is all I can think of right now cus it's starting to get late. But in my opinion the Harry Potter movies were very true to the book. The movie Star Dust was a little different from the book but I really enjoyed the movie just as well as I enjoyed the book. Even though the movie made some changes I thought they were good changes and it did not mess it up for me. I also liked the Nanny Diaries. I enjoyed the book and I enjoyed the movie cus Alicia Keys is in it. I actually thought they did a good job with the Nanny Diaries because there where several parts that were done perfectly. I just recently finished the Secret life of Bees and I can't wait to see the movie. I want to write great stories that will transport readers to other worlds and different times and places. I love fantasy. I love wizards, faries, unicorns, dragons, elfs. pixies, and other magical creatures. I also love disney fairytales. I also love the disney princesses. I was just thinking that the Wicked stage play was as good as the book Wicked.

My Recent Employment History

Right around the time I was going to graduate the Art Institute for Multimedia and Web Design I was looking for a job. I found one from one of the leads that I received from my career councilor. I had an interview which went well and then was first given an internship for a week after which they decided to employ me. I worked there for about a month but was let go because I was told that a customer had made a complaint about something I said or did on the phone. I was trying my very hardest to be as helpful as I could and give customers the correct information so I have no idea who complained or why and he never told me who it was and I would have liked to know so I wouldn't make that same kind of mistake in the future. To this day I still do not really know. While I was working there I got a call from a lady I had sent my resume too and she needed some help with some website stuff that was easy but time consuming so I came to her place on the weekend to help her out and she paid me $125 for helping her. She also told me if the job didn't work out for me she had something I might be interested in doing. When they let me go I gave her a call and came over and she showed me how to create training tutorials on DVD for computer programs like Adobe Photoshop and other programs. I continued on with her until June 15, 2007 when I found a job that would pay me as an employee because working for her I was doing contract work and getting paid based on projects. I enjoyed the work and the hours were good for me. It was at a company called Sync Cast who was actually bought by Technicolor. I was a quality assurance technician. I watched media content to make sure it was good quality before it was put up for public consumption. I was really having fun but about a month into it before I got my benefits they told me that they felt I would better serve as a contractor and they gave me my last paycheck. I was sad to go cus I really liked the job and the pay was good and I was about to get really good benefits too. Now I took up an offer from my former boss the lady I worked for before I was hired at Sync Cast. I am going to work for her for three weeks till I leave for my vacation to North Carolina and when I get back I will continue to search for the perfect job. Also while searching I thought I found something but it turned out to be a scam when I did some online research about the company president. I know the perfect job is out there for me I guess I just haven't found it yet.

Because I originally wrote this as a post on Sunday August 5th 2007 I have more to add to my employment history since that time.

In September 2007 I was hired at Kohls. I may have even wrote a short post about it. I was hired on the adset team and I worked mostly nights. The hours being from 6 or 7pm till 2am. I also started getting as many extra hours as I could working on the floor doing recovery and price changes. In July Stacy came to me with an offer of full time work 40 hours a week $8/hour. So I told KOHLS that I was going to cut back my hours but that I still wanted to keep my job with them. I worked it out with Stacy so that I would have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to work at KOHLS. When I cut my hours back they told me that they no longer had a postion for me. I did not really want to quit but in some way they kinda fired me because I wasn't available to work as many hours as they needed me for. So I did start working for Stacy full time. Eventually she ran out of money and went way too crazy for me to continue working for her and I had to start looking for a new job. I have been helping out my Step dad 1 or 2 days a week for the past few weeks now just to make a little bit of money. And right now I am still searching for the perfect job!

My Secret to being a Healthier Me!

I was introduced to the "Secret" while I was working for a real nice lady and I may have written about that job in one of my blogs. I don't remember if I wrote my job history in this particular blog but I will find that entry from where ever I have it and post it in here and add to it. Anyways this friend and co-worker told me I had to read this book called The Secret and she had just got a copy of the DVD and went to a showing of the DVD with a friend of hers. So that is how I was introduced to the Secret that is becoming very popular around the world. So let me start from the beginning. I was always a little bit pudgy but never really too much over weight when I was younger. When I went off to college and stopped really caring about what I ate and wasn't very active at all I started putting on weight little by little. Eventually I was up to almost 180 and that is considered a lot for a small girl of 5'4. I realized I was kinda up there in weight and I went to see a trainer and he told me I needed to loose 40lbs to get into a healthy weight range. Well I wasn't very motivated and didn't try very hard. I started out limiting the amount I ate and not eating as much of the junk I had been eating. I didn't get really strict at this point and I wasn't very motivated just yet. I didn't really get started on my journey until my girlfriend moved in with me and started wanting to loose weight herself and get into better shape. So we joined a gym. Also at one point my parents started on the Atkins diet which was also a bit of motivator for me as well. I started getting motivated to watch how many calories I ate. I learned that the more you burn and less you consume causes you to loose weight. Also at one point me and my girlfriend saw one of those exercise video infomercials and ended up buying the Turbo Jam workout. It came with a 10 day meal plan and I used it as a guide to help plan out some things to eat that would give me a balanced diet and then I did the work out tapes. I also went to the gym as well. Later when I learned about the secret I started using that to also help me reach my goals by always knowing that I was going to weigh less or have a goal to fit into the next pant size down and know that I could do it by the next time I went to buy new clothes and it worked. So far I have not gone up over 125lbs and I intend to keep my weight below that amount for the rest of my life using the secret and also by making healthy choices so I can be a healthier me. I just wanted to share my story and hope I can be an inspiration for others to reach their weight goals and feel happy and healthy.
